TT Web Site Manager Sites
Sites

The TT Web Site Manager breaks the web site down into 4 main types of entity. Sites, Pages, Items and Item containers. We are briefly considering each in turn to further illustrate the TT Web Site Manager system. This page considers the Site.

A site comprises all the URLs below a defined top URL. For example, if http://www.a_domain_name.com is a site, all URLs that start with http://www.a_domain_name.com are defined as part of that site. A single TT Web Site Manager installation can have multiple sites, this allows the same web space accessible by multiple URLs to serve different site content to each URL.

In the TT Web Site Manager the information that is used to identify the site is its base URL. This is resolved by the build script from the URL the user types into their browser so that the script can retrieve the right page from the database. A site also has a descriptive text name for labeling purposes in the administration scripts, and a TT Web Site Manager page specified as its default start page.
